Try Not To Pay Retail When Decorating

Oh, The Many Magazines that I have scoured through, dreaming of having those Homes.....(just like Tory's) I always knew that if I wanted that look that I needed to be creative!!

I remember our first apartment in NYC. We couldn't bring anything from Oklahoma. So, we went to many sales: Estate Sales, Moving Sales, Tag Sales, Flea Markets and also the  Biggest Treasure Chest.....Trash.  We didn't dig but if sitting there.....

"One man's trash is another Man's treasure."  

We did it on a dollar!!! And Loved IT!!!!

 Many of those items we have dragged across the country. We have either recovered, painted or just polished.  Those are probably My favorite things.  Those things tell a story!!!! I remember all of them.....

I still don't like to pay retail when decorating.  If I happen upon something in a shop that is so special and can't be duplicated then YES....Get It!!!
But while scouting these places like Antique Booths, Antique Shops, Flea Markets, Consignment Shops, Garage Sales......Do Not Be Afraid to ask.....

A few special Treasure's of mine.....

An old Scandinavian box from Connecticut Trash.  I have repaired it and I Love it!!

Some pillows that I found at a garage sale.  They are down fill with silk fabric on front and burlap on back. Love!!

This stool I got at a garage sale.  It was ripped and a mess.  I recovered it in a sample fabric that I had in a stack....It is perfect now!!!
